Agreement to these terms
By accessing or using scTimer (“scTimer”, “we”, “us”, or “the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
If you use scTimer on behalf of an organization or event, you represent that you have authority to accept these terms for that organization or event.
The Service
scTimer is a speedcubing timer and practice platform. Available features may include timing, scrambles, solve history and statistics, inspection and penalties, puzzle visualizations, learning tools, virtual-cube and smart-timer support, data import/export, optional cloud accounts and sync, online battles, and tournament or spectator tools.
Features may be beta, experimental, unavailable in some browsers, or changed over time. We may update, limit, suspend, or discontinue any feature when reasonably necessary to operate, secure, or improve the Service.
Practice and event tools, not official result certification. scTimer can support WCA-style practice and event workflows, but it does not by itself make a result official. Event organizers remain responsible for rules, equipment, judging, records, and participant safety.
Accounts and data
You may use the core timer without an account. An account is required for some cloud and host features. Keep your login credentials confidential, use accurate account information, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
You are responsible for maintaining copies of important timer data. Cloud sync is designed to help with backups and multi-device use, but synchronization, browser storage, connectivity, device failure, or user actions can affect data. Use the export tools for backups you need to retain.
You may manage devices, sign out, and delete an account through the Cloud Account area, subject to the information and limitations described in the Privacy Policy.
Realtime, shared, and tournament features
Room codes, spectator links, judge links, and other shared access details can allow others to view or participate in a related battle or tournament. Keep access links private when the activity is intended to be private, and do not include personal, sensitive, or confidential information in names, messages, or event details.
Hosts and organizers are responsible for the people they invite, access details they distribute, event configuration, results they approve, and their compliance with applicable rules. Do not use shared features to impersonate others, harass people, manipulate results, or interfere with another activity.
Acceptable use
You may use scTimer for lawful personal, educational, community, and event purposes. You must not:
- Use the Service in a way that violates law or infringes another person’s rights.
- Attempt to bypass access controls, rate limits, security measures, or account restrictions.
- Disrupt, overload, probe, or interfere with the Service or another user’s activity.
- Upload or share harmful code, unlawful content, or content that is abusive, deceptive, or invasive of privacy.
- Use automated means to access the Service except through features we make available for that purpose.
- Misrepresent scTimer results, affiliation, or endorsement.
Your content and data
You retain your rights in the data and content you submit to scTimer. You give us the limited permission needed to host, process, transmit, synchronize, display, and back up that content solely to operate and improve the features you select.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit information, names, results, and other content used in shared activities. We do not claim ownership of your solve history or user-provided content.
Third-party services
Some features rely on services, software, or links provided by others, including Google services, Firebase, connected hardware, and external websites. Your use of those services is subject to their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their content.
Google Drive sync is optional. If you authorize it, you are responsible for maintaining your Google account and managing the permissions you grant.
Service materials and feedback
scTimer’s branding, interface, and original materials are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to you. You may not use scTimer branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without permission.
If you send us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use it without obligation or compensation to you. This does not affect your rights in your own data.
Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not promise that it will always be available, secure, error-free, or suitable for every purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, scTimer and its contributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, use, goodwill, or profits arising from use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using scTimer at any time. We may suspend or restrict access to an account or feature when we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect users or the Service, investigate a violation of these terms, comply with law, or address security or operational issues.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when they were last revised. Continuing to use scTimer after updated terms take effect means you accept them to the extent allowed by law.
